UK Announced New Rules for International Travel

The UK has announced new rules to restore international travel using the ‘traffic light’ system after the lockdown. According to the AFP news agency, the temporary date for resumption of international travel by the UK was set for May 17. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday said that the countries would be classified as green, yellow and red in view of the Corona threat, but the government had asked for more details on Monday.

The UK has imposed a complete ban on travel to other countries, but travel has been waived for a number of reasons. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said every effort was being made to restore safe international traffic. According to the British government, the new traffic light system will provide clear guidance to passengers so that the vaccination process is not jeopardized in any way.

The virus will be tested before and after travel to low-risk “green” countries. Those from the yellow and red countries will have to live in quarantine.

The “red list” includes high-risk countries. British citizens traveling from these countries will have to be quarantined in government-approved hotels.
The British government has warned citizens not to book flights or leisure destinations for the summer holidays. According to the government, it is premature to assess low-risk “green” countries at present.
