Iran confirms the talks with Saudi Arabia

Iran has confirmed the recent talks with Saudi Arabia and said that it is waiting for the outcome of the talks.

Iran confirmed for the first time that it had held talks with Saudi Arabia in early April, saying it was too early to say whether the talks would succeed or not.

In this regard, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzada in a news conference welcomed all kinds of talks for peace and development in the region and said that the reduction of tensions between the two major Muslim countries in the region is not only the two countries. It is better for the whole region, but Iran is still waiting for the outcome of the talks.

Referring to the talks, Khatibzada added that he had said that the talks in April were aimed at easing tensions in the region. Saudi Arabia needs a guarantee of peace, while Iran has spoken of lifting sanctions.

The British revealed important meetings between the delegations of the two countries in Baghdad last month after the severance of diplomatic relations for five years.

The talks were first publicly discussed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in an interview with Al Arabiya in late April, in which he expressed a desire for good relations with traditional rival Iran.

Following the Crown Prince’s statement, Iran welcomed the reconciliation and expressed hope that the two countries would work together to end tensions and bring peace to the region.

The two countries are still working cautiously on the content of the talks, so the agenda for the talks has not come to the fore.
